Dr. Steve Schein is a corporate sustainability strategist and family business advisor at L4S Consulting.

He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and former CEO with more than 35 years of leadership, business development, consulting, and senior management experience in a wide range of industries. His primary areas of consulting are family business advising, leadership development and integration of sustainability with strategy and culture. Steve is passionate about helping leaders and teams tap into their deeper motivations and strengths to cultivate sustainable organizations over the long-term.

His 2015 book “A New Psychology for Sustainability Leadership: The Hidden Power of Ecological Worldviews” was featured in US News & World Report, The Guardian, Bloomberg News, Psychology Today and numerous other journals and publications.

Dr. Steve Schein

He was the Sustainability Expert-in-Residence at the Presidio Graduate School and a ten year member of the faculty at Southern Oregon University, where he founded the sustainability leadership certificate program. Prior to this he was a director of consulting at Moss Adams and President of resort management companies in Colorado and Arizona. In 1998, he co-founded an NYSE company, ResortQuest International, where he served as a senior vice-president and corporate officer until 2004. Earlier in his career, Steve was an international auditor with Arthur Young and Nabisco Brands. He has speaks three foreign languages: Spanish, French, and Portuguese.

Steve earned his PhD in Human Development and Organizational Systems from Fielding Graduate University and his BA in accounting from the University of Colorado. He is a certified in numerous assessment instruments and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Net Impact.
